Interview with Morgn Bun Leang

How do you like the program?
The scholarship program....is very, very good because this program has given
a good chance [to] students to absorb a lot of knowledge...and [help make a]
bright future.
How is University? What do you like about studying?
The university has modern equipment and the teachers are very good. Studying
is very important for my life, so I must try hard...until I can get a good
job. Now I'm studying Information Technology (computer technology) at
Chamroeun University. I like it very much. It is a very good subject for me
for the future, although it is very difficult. But I must [prevail] and I
hope that there will be a lot of jobs. When I finish my studies at university
I will be a good teacher in the university or in any private school.
I want to get some money to [help] my family and I want to share my knowledge [with] the other students, and
especially, I want to help some orphan[ed] students of Cambodia. And finally,
I [can] say nothing more besides many thanks to the
organization that helps me....offering food, studies, shelter, and a new life. I would
like to thank for Uncle Kim Heng, Arther, and Sally who have always given some
good advice to me, all these merits and virtues, I cannot forget in my whole
life.

How do you like the program?
I'm very satisfied with the scholarship program of Global Children, which is
supported by charitable people in the United States. I think that giving the
scholarship to the poor and orphaned students is really very essential for
them because it can helps [people like] me continue my studies and [helps
me] become a well-educated person. Before, I never imagined [I'd be able to
attend] University after I finished my studies in high school. Now I have a
chance.....This program has provided me [with] everything [I need
including]... food, a house, studies, and medicine as well.
How is University? What do you like about studying?
I am studying Economic Sciences at Chamroeun University. It is big...and a
good environment. I started [my]...first year on Aug. 9, 2002. In the first
semester the University [gave]...me seven subjects including math, economic
theory, economic background, microeconomics, accounting, management, and
English. I learn from 7 a.m. to [noon] and have a break [of] about 20
minutes...Monday to Friday. Most of [the teachers] are good and
.experienced and talented. Most [of ] the subjects I like and I also have [a lot of] time
to study in both school and home.
In the future, I want to work in a bank and after [that] I want to work in
the government because I understand that I can help my nation. In short, I want
the Cambodian economy to be as progressive as other countries in the world.
Thank you very much....[the scholarship] helps me continue my studies at
university.
